  • Team Ryan

So last night I was watching the end of the Reds and Phillies game, and I noticed how many players named Ryan were on their rosters. That got me thinking… There sure are a lot of Ryans in MLB these days. It was a very popular name in the early to mid 80’s. I should know, since my name is Ryan.

Without further ado, here’s my lineup featuring all Ryans:

Manager - Ryan Armbrust (It is my made up team…)

    C - Ryan Doumit (PIT)
    1B - Ryan Howard (PHI)
    2B - Ryan Roberts (TOR)
    3B - Ryan Zimmerman (WAS)
    SS - Ryan Freel (CIN)
    RF - Ryan Langerhans (ATL)
    LF - Ryan Klesko (SD)
    CF - Ryan Church (WAS)
    DH - Ryan Shealy (KC)

    1B/C - Ryan Garko (CLE)
    OF - Ryan Spilborghs (COL)
    2B - Ryan Theriot (CHC)

    SP - Ryan Madson (PHI)
    SP - Ryan Drese (WAS)
    RP - Ryan Franklin (CIN)
    RP - Ryan Vogelsong (PIT)
    RP - Ryan Wagner (WAS)
    RP - Ryan Dempster (CHC)
    CL - B.J. Ryan (TOR)

    Mascot - Farney

(OK, so B.J. Ryan’s last name is Ryan, not his first. I’d rather have him close out games for team Ryan than Dempster. Wouldn’t you?)

I think the offense could hold it’s own, and perhaps even do well.

The pitching staff would get completely lit up, though. I’m not sure there would be many games for B.J. Ryan to close out…
