I’ve Assembled a Round-table…

And I’m not talking about a piece of furniture, either.
I’ve asked a few friends of mine to share their thoughts on some questions that I think are on the average Oakland fan’s mind this season. I’ve also asked them to respond to one question about the current state of the game as we know it.
- In your opinion, what is the is the key factor that the A’s season will hinge on in 2007?
- Bobby Crosby - Is he an injury-prone bust, or can he rebound to approach the Rookie of the Year expectations?
- How much will this team miss Barry Zito, in terms of pitching and/or leadership?
- Can Mike Piazza adjust to the differences of being a DH facing American League pitchers?
- Is Oakland’s defense as good as most people assume, or is it overrated?
- Are we at the end of the steroids era, or just the dawn of the HGH era in baseball?
I’m giving them a bit more time to get their thoughts together and get back to me, but I’ve already received some fascinating responses from:
Jeff Sackmann of Beyond the Boxscore
baseballgirl from Athletics Nation
HollywoodOz of Notes from the Nat
Professor Oakland of Operation Athletics
Sal Baxamusa from The Hardball Times
Marc Normandin of Baseball Prospectus
Tyler Bleszinski of Athletics Nation
Once it seems that everyone who’s going to respond has done so (a couple days), I’ll begin posting their responses. I feel bad about having to wait, since I want to share their take on these issues with you all as soon as I can… but I want to allow everyone enough time.
So watch for the round-table to begin in the next few days.

[…] Also, I’m going to be partnering with Aaron Hoag of Condition Oakland on a new site at MVN that centers on the Oakland minor league system. You might recall that Aaron (aka SwizStick) participated in my Oakland round-table a few weeks ago. It’s not up and running yet, but it should be in the next week or so. It’s tentatively called “A Minor Consideration”. Get it? You know, the “A” for A’s, “Minor” for… well, the minors, and… OK, you’re not dumb, I’m sure you got it the first time, in all it’s lame, cheesy glory. […]
