College Splits!
[No, not the kind that you’ll see the cheerleaders do in Memorial Stadium, but split stats for collegiate baseball.]
Jeff Sackmann has done it again, just when I was least expecting it. Sackmann, the ubiquitous statistical benefactor/author that he is, has launched College Splits, a website in the mold of his Minor League Splits. While it’s still in the beta phase, and all you can access are stats for Oregon State, the defending College World Series champions, it’s very promising.
For example, here’s a link to the splits for Jordan Lennerton, the Beavers’ first baseman. While his overall batting average so far is .429, he’s only hitting .143 with runners in scoring position, but he’s 4-for-5 with the bases empty. It’s early in the season, so these numbers don’t mean much yet, but as the spring progesses, there should be some very interesting data come out of College Splits.
I’ll be referencing this site often as Husker baseball season opens next week.

Thanks, Ryan. Hope the site can live up to your expectations.
Looking forward to the Huskers this year.
