Shannon Stewart Against the AL West
You know it’s a slow news week for the A’s when there’s not one, not two, but three posts about Shannon Stewart on Catfish Stew. To avoid further glut, I’ll post this little bit of statistical flotsam here.
Over his career, Shannon Stewart has had a lot of success against the AL West. If you look at his numbers when facing the Rangers, Mariners and Angels, here’s what you get:
| Shannon Stewart | |
| AB | 540 |
| Avg | .317 |
| Obp | .359 |
| Slg | .461 |
| OPS | .820 |
| HR | 12 |
| 2B | 36 |
| BB – K | 36 – 72 |
| SB – CS | 14 – 7 |
I’m not going to draw any conclusions there, but just let that stand for what it is. It’s just signifies that in the past, Stewart has had better luck against the non-Oakland teams in the West than he has against the rest of baseball.
Stewart has really done well against Bartolo Colon, in fact. He owns a lifetime .311/.340/.533 mark against Fat Bart, with two homers and four doubles in 45 at-bats.
Hopefully he can continue that success while wearing a new hat.

And yes, I know, my photoshopping skills leave something to be desired.
