  • Spring Training, Huskers, Snow and the Eephus

    - I love the eephus pitch. Kaz Tadano throws one, so I wrote about it at Catfish Stew. It includes this very scientific diagram:

    - Nebraska took 2 of 3 at the Rice Invite this weekend. They took a 5-0 lead into the 4th against the Owls of Rice, but had one of the more memorable defensive collapses I’ve seen in the bottom of that inning. It was ugly, I’m just glad it was a radio-only game.

    - The Huskers continued to tread water in the polls, moving up one spot in one, dropping a spot in another, and holding steady in the third.

    - I’ve always wondered, do Spring Training stats matter at all? Are they indicative of success in April, or the rest of the season? Well, to answer that question, I wrote an article for Beyond the Boxscore about it. My conclusion? Nope, stats in March don’t mean much at all. I think…

    - I was going to go to a local state college baseball game this past week… but it snowed and I instead got to help my dad with the cattle. If the weather holds up, I’m going to try and see a game in the next few days. I’m not optimistic.

    - It’s less than a week now until I report to Arizona to cover Spring Training. This may come as a shocker to you all, but I can’t wait.
