  • Baseball is Back on Cable

I awoke this morning to rumors of the Extra Innings package returning to cable, and when I turned to channel 748 on my Time Warner cable box… it was confirmed. Baseball is back.

I’ll still be very critical of the method that MLB used to get this deal, but you can’t argue with the results. They got a lot more money from the dish and cable companies while ensuring that their Baseball Channel will be carried on a lower tier when it launches in 2009. Customers got ulcers worrying that they wouldn’t be able to see their team this year, but ultimately have the same deal they’ve had for the past few years.

Perhaps it’s just the fact that baseball being back has made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but I’m willing to forgive MLB messing with all of us these past few months. It’s hard to be upset when I can watch baseball all day long.

Of course, this all comes just two days after I bought the MLB.tv package… but I’m likely to use both anyway. MLB.tv has a great setup where you can watch six games at once, it will alert you to certain players being up to bat, and the archived games can’t be beat.
