  • Heading off to SABR 38

Well, it’s that time of year again. On Wednesday morning, I’ll be flying in to Cleveland for the SABR convention.

I really enjoyed last year’s get-together in St. Louis, and I have a feeling that Cleveland might be even better. I’m looking forward to meeting a bunch of like-minded baseball nuts again, and to listening to the great presentations.

I’ll also be participating in something I didn’t take part in last year — the Base Ball game. I’ll be playing in the 1860 New York Rules game, as a part of SABR’s team. We’ll be playing a local nine in an exhibition of the old-style game. I’m very excited, to say the least.

I’m also going to the Indians vs. Reds game on Friday night, and while both teams in the “Battle of Ohio” are underperforming a bit this season, it’s still a ballgame, and I’m looking forward to it.

While I have admittedly not been posting as often as I’d like on The Pastime as of late, I will be blogging SABR 38 throughout the week.

Aside from the SABR-related events, I’ll also be spending an extra day in Cleveland to take in some of the sights, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Look, I made it through a whole post about Cleveland, and I didn’t mention Drew Carey once! Whoops, now I’ve done it.
