  • A Player to Be Named Later

I just wanted to recommend a great documentary that was released earlier this year. It’s called “A Player to Be Named Later”. It follows the lives of four minor league players at the Milwaukee Brewers’ AAA team. It’s not only an interesting insight into how a minor league guy makes it to the majors, but what happens to all those prospects that don’t pan out, and how it affects their families and lifestyles.I originally ran across it because one of the players, Marco Scutaro, plays for the A’s now. He’s actually nearly the focus of the documentary, and his story might be the most compelling of all. I also was happily surprised to see that one of the other players was Kyle Peterson, who is from my hometown of Elkhorn, NE.

It’s kind of pricey (~$18) at Amazon, but if you have Netflix or Blockbuster Online, it’s available there.
