  • San Jose A’s?

San Jose is making a push for the A’s. Sure there are territorial rights that are technically in the way, but those have been worked around before. (Angelos and the Nats) They have been not only targeting a ballpark site in San Jose, but have actually been buying land. The City of San Jose just agreed to buy about two acres of land for $11.9 million. This is in addition to the Stephens Meat plant that they purchased in November for $130 per square foot.

More can be found on Ballpark Digest, and on the very thorough New A’s Ballpark blog.

Here’s an aerial shot of what I think is the targeted site in San Jose. According to the New A’s Ballpark blog, it’s on the block between Autumn Street and Montgomery Street, south of San Fernando Street in San Jose. That means nothing to me, being a Nebraskan, but perhaps the Bay Area folk know where that is.
