  • Dan Haren Changes His Uniform Number

Hidden away in this handful of notes from Fox Sports is the tidbit that Dan Haren has changed his uniform number. He’s worn #24 since coming over to the A’s from the Cardinals, where he wore #50 and #55.

Haren will now sport #15, a number last worn by an Athletic in 2004, when Tim Hudson donned it. I suppose this is the next step in Haren’s emergence as a mature, top-of-the-rotation pitcher. He dropped the “Danny” nickname last year, and now he’ll get a new number.

Here’s a history of the number 15 in Oakland:

    2007 - present : Dan Haren

    2000 - 2004 : Tim Hudson

    1999 : Mike McFarlane

    1993 : Storm Davis

    1986 : Donnie Hill

    1982 - 1984 : Davey Lopes

    1981 : Mark Budaska

    1978 - 1979 : Mike Morgan

    1977 - 1978 : Joe Coleman

    1974 - 1976 : Claudell Washington

    1973 : Larry Haney

    1973 : Tim Hosley

    1972 : Bobby Brooks

    1972 : Ollie Brown

    1969 - 1970 : Bobby Brooks

    1968 : Allan Lewis

    1968 : Floyd Robinson
