  • Have They Started Playing Games Yet?

This is like baseball purgatory. We’re stuck between the offseason and Spring Training. All we have to keep us occupied are stories about beards and beer guts, while we wait for games to begin one week from today.

Here’s what I’ve been working on the past two days, while staring at the calendar to try and make time move a bit faster:

    - The Huskers moved up slightly in the polls after going 3-1 to open the season. College baseball polls are the least objective polls ever created. Nebraska is ranked 7/12/12/19 in the four major polls.

    - Over at Corn Nation, the series preview for the Rice Invite is up, written on the brand-spankin’ new software that SBnation is going be running soon. We at CN were privileged enough to be the first in the entire network to get the new look. We might just be lab-rats, though. If you frequent any SBnation blog, go check out Corn Nation to see what the future looks like, even if you’re not a Husker fan.

    - At Catfish Stew, I’ve looked ahead a few weeks into my crystal baseball and predicted what the A’s opening day 25-man roster will look like. Rule V draft picks seem to be living on the bubble, and I’ve made the unpopular prediction that Booby Kielty and Adam Melhuse won’t be A’s much longer.

    - Looking for live baseball this weekend in Nebraska? I know I am. Here’s where you can find it. I’m going to try and catch one of these games. That’s assuming that they aren’t cancelled due to snow, which is a real possibility. Saturday’s forcast is 43 and rainy, while Sunday is supposed to be 34 and snowy. For all you baseball fans south of the 40th parallel, yes, we often have to call games on account of snow. And you wonder why the NCAA is moving the start of the season forward to the end of February next year?
